Negotiations to open a new hospital on the St. Elizabeths campus in Ward 8 were put on hold last week when George Washington University Hospital withdrew from the discussion table.
Later this month, the D.C. Council will consider an amended plan to bring the long-awaited hospital east of the Anacostia River, an area that has seen a number of recent hospital closures. We check in with Councilmember Vincent Gray, chairperson of the Council’s Committee on Health, for his perspective.
