Saying Goodbye To The Kojo Nnamdi Show
On this last episode, we look back on 23 years of joyous, difficult and always informative conversation.
Last month, Pennsylvania’s attorney general released a shocking report about widespread abuse within the Roman Catholic Church in his state. The report also implicated Washington’s current cardinal, Archbishop Donald Wuerl, who previously served as bishop of the diocese of Pittsburgh, where he established a reputation as one of the more forward thinkers within the church responding to the abuse scandal.
Now, a growing chorus of local Catholics –lay people and priests alike– hope Pope Francis will accept his resignation. How did Wuerl get to this point and what will change in the archdiocese in the wake of his presumed departure? Kojo discusses with current and former members of the local Catholic community.
