A giant hogweed

If touching a plant could make you blind, you wouldn’t want it anywhere near you. But last week, such a poisonous plant was found in Alexandria, Va. –it’s called the giant hogweed. Experts say it does not spread very quickly and is unlikely to take over our region. But what do you do if you come across the giant hogweed? Where do such invasive plants come from? And are there others we should be aware of? We discuss invasive species and their effects on the local ecosystem.
