You Can’t Make Me Eat That
For this week’s Food Wednesday, we’re learning about picky eaters and how their aversion to certain tastes may indicate something more. Here at The Kojo Nnamdi Show, we like to think of ourselves as (mostly) well-adjusted adults. But that doesn’t mean we’ve grown out of hating licorice. Check out our least-favorite foods and listen to our show about picky eating.
Michael Martinez, Producer
“I dislike coconut. I don’t like the texture. I don’t like the taste. I don’t like Mounds or Almond Joy bars. I don’t like Coconut Water. Keep the coconuts away from me please.”
Tayla Burney, Producer
“I don’t know if I have a least favorite food, I may be the perfect dining companion… Nope, kidding. I hate anisette, caraway seeds, black licorice, many fruit flavored things -especially banana and grape (though I eat the fruits themselves). And lastly, MANGO (the fruit).”
Ingalisa Schrobsdorff, Producer
“Licorice and licorice-flavored alcohol like sambuca
Caraway seeds — way to ruin a good slice of rye bread
Brussel sprouts need so much butter and salt it offsets any benefits
Celery — It actually takes more calories to process it than it gives you, so in that way it’s a health food, but, ugh.
Sorbet and popsicles are cold and boring. Give me ice cream instead!
Avery Kleinman, Producer
“It’s weird, but I don’t like spaghetti. Any other pasta I’m good with… just something about spaghetti seems wrong to me. I’ll eat it… but I’d a thousand times rather have a different kind of pasta.”
Also bananas. Banana bread yes. Regular bananas no.”
Ruth Tam, Web Producer
“Fat or skin on meat that isn’t crispy makes me gag. Hate bananas. Yogurt kind of freaks me out. It’s sad, goopy and if it’s not Greek, it’s too sweet. Also, it’s ALIVE.”
