The University of Maryland released a report that shows the many ways staff failed freshman football player Jordan McNair, who died in June after suffering heat exhaustion during a team workout.
The independent report, commissioned by the university, lists 27 steps the university should take to safeguard athletes in future.
In the meantime, Maryland fans and those who follow college football wonder whether an overly harsh approach to training contributed to McNair’s death, and whether anyone at Maryland –from coaches to trainers to the university’s president– will be forced to resign.
