Maryland lawmakers decided Tuesday not to move forward with legislation that would grant the state Senate power of confirmation over who gets the job of state superintendent. In the coming months, the state board of education will appoint someone to the position. We talk with the local senator behind the bill about his concerns about Maryland schools’ top decision-making body.
