Twenty years after a landmark women’s equality conference in Beijing, the United Nations reports that about 35 percent of women worldwide still experience violence in their lifetimes. The global problem manifests in myriad ways – rape, domestic violence, enslavement – and is one that persists despite advances. We talk about the nuances that make wholesale action and policies difficult and factors that can be addressed.
