Kyrgyzstan was once known as the “Switzerland of Central Asia.” But political instability and ethnically-charged violence in Kyrgyzstan have created a crisis with major implications across the region, especially Afghanistan. We examine how a political crisis in a remote corner of Central Asia could impact U.S. strategic interests.
