With the implementation of such “get tough” approaches to crime as three strikes legislation and mandatory sentencing for drug users, more than a million inmates have been added to U-S prisons since nineteen-seventy. Kojo speaks with proponents of prison reform about what they see as the most troubling trends in current incarceration practices.
