When Australian scientist Tim Flannery first visited New Guinea, he set out to discover and chart new species of mammals. In the two decades since, he has catalogued nearly twenty new species and become intensely interested in the plight of the island’s long-isolated cultures when they come into conflict with the interests of foreign countries and corporations.
