On the Brink with Iran?
http://thekojonnamdishow.org/shows/2012-01-12/brink-iran
Wednesday's assassination of another nuclear scientist in Iran comes amid escalating sanctions and a growing push in the U.S. for military strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities. As Iran and the U.S. both head toward elections, Kojo explores the threat a nuclear-armed Iran would pose for the West and asks what the United States should do about it.

I started listening a bit late and you may have covered this...can your guests talk about the human impact of the US sanctions? We created a dismal situation in Iraq through 12 years of draconian sanctions. Are we doing the same to Iran?

Thanks for having Barbara Slavin on, Kojo. She is a voice in the wilderness on the Iran issue.
I have to wonder if Israel can pull off these murders of Iranian scientists in the middle of Tehran what kind of operations are they carrying out in the midst the turmoil in Syria, number two on Israel's enemy list ?
How did a political hack like Colin Kahl get a DoD security clearance, let alone become a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense?!?!
I just reread his piece from 2008 "When to Leave Iraq" on Foreign Affairs, and it occurs to me that a) Mr. Kahl has never worn a uniform and knows absolutely nothing about military leadership or strategy and b) that he co-wrote that piece for the purpose of sucking up to then Presidential candidate Obama so he could end up in the Administration.
Somebody needs to clue Kahl in that having a PhD in poli-sci does not replace actual experience... freakin dilettante.
And Trita Parsi, not being a US citizen, being an obvious anti-Semite, and expressing more concern for Iran than the US, should be shipped back to Iran as soon as possible.
After reading the comments here and listening to the callers on the air, I have to ask:
what in the hell is wrong with you people?!?!
There are GOOD and EVIL in the world... its not culturally relative. And if Iran has proven anything at all since 1979, its that they are straight up evil!
Nobody will be safe anywhere on this planet if Iran has nuclear weapons. Its that simple. All of this concern for how we're perceived or the effect of sanctions on the Iranian people becomes moot if the narrow-minded crazies BLOW UP THE WHOLE WORLD.
You pacifist, appeaser types never fail to amaze me with your myopism. No amount of holding hands and singing "Kumbaya" is going to make Iran stop being a country run by insane a-holes.
