Beyond "Corporate Social Responsibility"
Should corporations be concerned with their impact on society? Can "sustainability" be a corporate mission, along with pursuit of profit and shareholder value? The idea of "Corporate Social Responsibility" is taking off among private industry leaders, and states like Maryland are creating new incentives for socially and environmentally conscious corporations. We examine whether the goal of "doing good" is in tension with the necessity of "doing well."
