Maryland State Senator Gwendolyn Britt (D-Prince Georges County) passed away unexpectedly this weekend. A native Washingtonian, Senator Britt spent her life fighting for equality -- in the Jim Crow South with the Freedom Riders, with her neighbors desegregating Glen Echo Park, and most recently in the Maryland General Assembly. We revisit her legacy.
