Armistead Maupin became a gay rights icon when his "Tales of the City" column first appeared thirty three years ago in a San Francisco newspaper. Now after more than a decade out of the limelight, he's picked up the storyline of his familiar characters. He talks to Kojo about his life, and how gay culture has changed in America.
