Secrets of Taj Mahal

Listen Tuesday, May. 8, 2007 at 1:25 p.m. in Arts & Culture, Religion, Society

The Taj Mahal may be the most famous tomb in the world. Built in the 17th century by an Islamic emperor to memorialize his wife who died in childbirth, the building is an unusual icon in Hindu-dominated India. Kojo learns the intriguing history of the Taj Mahal, including the role Sunni-Shiite tensions and regional warfare had on the two decade long building project.
