Alternative Minimum Tax

Listen Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at 1:22 p.m. in Economy

Within the next five years, more than 36 million Americans will be subject to the "Alternative Minimum Tax." Find about this little-known tax rule (on the books since 1978), why you'll likely be paying it, and why conservatives and liberals agree that although it should be repealed, Congress probably won't touch it.

Audio archives, transcripts and CDs will be available approximately 15 minutes after the program ends.

Guests

Len Burman

Senior Fellow, Urban Institute; Co-Director of Urban/Brookings the Tax Policy Center; Visiting Professor at Georgetown University

Mary Beth Franklin
