The Future of Amtrak

Listen Wednesday, Apr. 27, 2005 at 12:06 p.m. in Economy, Politics

Amtrak hasn't turned a profit since 1971. And Amtrak executives admit the current business model is unsustainable and in need of serious reform. We look at the future of passenger rail in America, including the Bush Administration's recent proposal to withdraw federal subsidies unless Amtrak makes significant changes, including opening itself up to competition.

Audio archives, transcripts and CDs will be available approximately 15 minutes after the program ends.
