Happy New Year! For our first Tuesday of the month, and indeed the year, the Computer Guys & Gal are here with a look back at 2010 and a look forward to 2011.
We'll leave it to you to decide whether it's a very bad sign that just three days in to the new year, Computer Guy Bill Harlow already has one of 2011's "worsts." And judging from the press it's gotten, you can probably guess what it is. As Bill puts it, "iPhone is hung over and just wants to sleep in, man." According to an Apple spokesperson, one-time alarms that did not function in the first few days of the new year were expected to work fine again starting on Jan. 3, and Apple suggested a work-around to the bug that involved setting any alarms to be recurring.
And our Computer Gal Allison Druin continues (one small part of) her radio duel with Computer Guy John Gilroy over the future of digital publishing. In the past, John has expressed his opinion that eReaders are a fad, but Allison has it on good authority that the gadgets are here to stay, with market analysis confirming their sales growth over the past few years.
